A Message from our President, Paul A. Pelosi

As our Club enters its fifth season, we have become a focal point for Catholic professional and business leaders in our Diocese. For the wonderful gift of our Club, thanks are in order. First, to God, Our Father, from whom all gifts come. Next, to our Bishop, P.J. McGrath, a warm, kind, humble, and incredibly nice man, without whose support and encouragement we would not exist. Thanks, Bishop – you are welcome as our guest any time. To my predecessors, John Pesta and Phil Gregory, for your vision in founding our Club and your leadership in guiding us through our infancy. To our Board, which will be staying in place for another term – truly the most spiritual, talented, and unselfish group that I have had the pleasure of being part of. Thanks for making my job as President so pleasant. To each of you members, our core, for your interest, support, and enthusiasm. Your presence at our Thursday morning breakfasts is always the highlight of my month. And last, but not least, to our “Most Valuable Player”, Jessica King. Thank you, Jessica, for all that you do for us. We love you.

Thanks, without active participation by each one of us, will not sustain us. I invite each of you to learn about, and take advantage of, any of our Club’s offerings that are of interest to you. Please feel free to suggest ways in which we can better serve you and other members, change for the better, improve on what we are doing now, etc. We are, and want to be, much more than a once-a-month breakfast Club. This Directory, for example, is a service to you, and a potentially very valuable tool for you.

In order to prosper as the years go on, we must add new members each year. Attrition seems to be an inevitable fact of life for us. Our membership is now slightly over 200, meaning that we held our own last term. We must do better. I challenge each of you to bring at least one (1) guest to each breakfast. Once a newcomer experiences first-hand what we have, he or she is usually hooked!

Finally, my thanks to those of you who have contributed to this Directory by placing an ad for your business or profession. I suggest that each of us become familiar with the skills and services of our advertisers, as they are valuable resources to us. Our Club is a faith-based business and professional networking organization. To the extent that we can assist and support each other, we are fulfilling our mission.

It has been my honor and privilege to have served as your President in 2005-2006. I will do so again in 2006-2007 because, for me, this Club is truly a labor of love. I know that I get back from all of you far more than I contribute. For this, I am grateful. Participation in our Club has incredibly deepened my faith and my commitment to our Catholic community in the Diocese of San Jose.

I look forward to another happy, successful year for our Club.

Peace and Love,

Paul
